WASHINGTON (July 24, 2007)—Farmers from across the United States are descending upon Capitol Hill in anticipation this week’s floor vote on H.R. 2419 in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Those farmers are actively working to have their voices heard. In a letter sent to all members of Congress today, major national, regional, and state agriculture originations and interests—79 in total—called upon lawmakers to reject the Kind-Flake farm scheme and support the farm bill as passed in the House Agriculture Committee last week.
Opposition to the Kind-Flake amendment has unified organizations that may generally have differing views and policies on certain specific components of farm policy.
The message is clear—America’s farmers and ranchers do not support the Kind-Flake farm policy scheme.
Organizations signing the letter include:
- American Farm Bureau Federation
- National Farmers Union
- Farm Credit Council
- National Milk Producers Foundation
- National Rural Electric Cooperative Association
- Western Peanut Growers Association
- And many others.
